Following the phenomenal turnout at the Day Out With Thomas event on May bank holiday, East Lancashire Railway (ELR) is once again hosting a Thomas the Tank weekend.
Saturday 6th August and Sunday 7th August will see the little blue engine and his friends returning to the railway for a two-day extravaganza. It is a full day event that starts with the official opening at 9.45am by Sir Topham Hatt himself. All of the attractions, rides and activities on the day are covered by the one-price ticket and include:
Ride with Thomas on his own branch line
Meet the Fat Controller and some of Thomas’ friends
Entry to the Imagination Station with storytelling, film screenings, colouring and drawing
Face painting and temporary Thomas tattoos
Thomas live scenarios, pottery and circus workshops, Punch & Judy and magic shows
Free gift, Junior Engineer Certificate and sticker for each child
Free entry to Bury Transport Museum
All day train rides on ELR’s 24 mile return route
Tickets cost £14 per adult, £7 per child and £35 per family (2 adults, 3 children) with under 3’s free. Tickets are available in advance and on the day. Please visit www.eastlancsrailway.org.uk for the full event programme and how to book.
After several years of absence, the first Day Out With Thomas event in April saw a record-breaking 8,500 visitors flocking to the railway during the three event days. A third Day Out With Thomas event is planned on the weekend of 1st – 2nd October 2011.
