Helmshore Textile Museums will be taking on a Dickensian theme for their Annual Christmas Fair on Sunday 4th December. This event is organised by The Friends of Helmshore Textile Museums {a registered charity} for whom this is a major fundraising project. The Fair is one of the Museums busiest events of the year, and often attracts about 1500 visitors.
More than 50 craft stalls will be on show, offering a wide range of interesting, unusual and beautifully crafted gifts for Christmas. In addition to the Children’s Choir of Helmshore Primary School we welcome back The Stacksteads Band to perform at intervals throughout the afternoon. Father Christmas has been invited to come along to meet the children. During the morning the Helmshore Farmers Market will take place whilst in the afternoon there will be demonstrations of the waterwheel, carding and spinning.
Why not make a day of it? There'll be plenty to do and see.
The award winning Museum Café and the Friends Coffee Shop will be open all day.
The Fair which is said to be “the best in the North West” has opened every year for more than twenty years and marks the end of a hectic season for both The Friends and for the Staff at the Museum.
Louise Jacobsson, the Museum Keeper, said “The Friend’s Victorian Christmas Craft Fair is in many respects the high point of the season for us – although it is usually so busy that when we close up at the end of the day it is with a great sigh of relief! We do however, hope that lots of visitors will come to the Fair and make this year truly, one to remember!”
The Christmas Fair is open to visitors from 11 am until 4.30 pm.
Admission is £1-50 for adults and accompanied children under 15 are free
