Fright Night at the National Waterways Museum

Thrills and frights are coming to the National Waterways Museum this Halloween with the first Fright Night at the Museum event.

Visitors to these family friendly events, which take place at the Ellesmere Port museum on Sunday October 30 and Monday October 31, will be told the ghostly tale of Samuel and Helen of the Dock though action, dance, sound effects and lights and a few other creepy surprises.

And there’s something for all ages at the event with the museum’s historic cottages open for children to enjoy trick or treating in a safe atmosphere and free goody bags for children. The ghost tours all finish at the museum’s conference centre, where there will be a bar, barbecue and spooky disco.

Event organiser Gaynor La Rocca from the Museum’s Youth Activity Centre said: “The National Waterways Museum is a great location for all manner of spooky activities – our regular weekend ghost tours are very popular – so putting together this evening has been great.

“We’ve got actors young and old involved in putting on a great show and we’ve also had tremendous help from the students at West Cheshire College, who have worked very hard to help with the organising.

“And who knows, maybe the museum’s resident ghosts may put in an appearance!”

Families visiting the museum for the event should dress up warm and bring torches. Ghostly tours run every 20 minutes between 5pm and 7.20pm on Sunday night and 6pm and 8.20pm on Monday night. Tickets are £4 for adults, £3 for children and a family ticket for two adults and two children is £12.
