Spin Spun Span is a wonderful animation about the cotton industry of the north west and the industrial revolution, which has been made for the new Bolton Lives Gallery at Bolton Museum, Aquarium and Archive.
It is part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad programme 'Stories of the World'. The project is led by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) in partnership with the London Organising Committee of the Olyumpic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).
To create their film Emily and Anne were inspired by Bolton Museum's collection of surrealist art works and documentary photography from the 1930s. They also visited the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester where they spent time observing and drawing machinery to use in the film.
Unravel the story of Bolton past, present and future in the new Bolton Lives Gallery open Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm, admission is free.
Copyright: The film is copyright of the artists Emily and Anne and Bolton Library and Museum Service.
