Blackwell Arts and Crafts House

Photograph of Blackwell, The Arts and Crafts HouseBlackwell, The Arts & Crafts House in Bowness-on-Windermere, is available for independent visits by school groups. Blackwell was built between 1898-1900 and is one of Britain’s finest grade I listed Arts & Crafts Houses. A visit to Blackwell encourages pupils to investigate art and link it to their own experiences and other subjects. Working with art and social history can enable pupils to develop transferable skills such as looking, describing, discussing, analysing and decision making

The guided sessions are led by enthusiastic and experienced Gallery and Museum Educators. Pupils are invited to engage with selected works of art and historical objects in the Trust’s Collection and temporary exhibitions. This is achieved through investigation, practical activities and discussion. These guided sessions can be tailored to your requirements and learning needs. All self-led visits are free of charge but must be pre-booked. The team at Blackwell are happy to discuss the content of your visit and are able to arrange teaching resources for you. There are also FREE children’s trails to accompany the temporary exhibitions that are available.

The Lakeland Arts Trust is committed to encouraging and increasing access to schools and colleges.
