MOSI

Located on the historic site of the world’s oldest surviving passenger railway station, housed in five listed buildings, MOSI’s amazing galleries and outstanding collections tell the story of Manchester’s scientific and industrial past, present and future.

At MOSI any group size is welcome. They have on site parking with spaces available for up to 16-seater minibuses but this must be reserved in advance. Coaches cannot park at the Museum, but can drop off on Liverpool Road and the Museum advises coach drivers to check in on the Manchester City Council website for up-to-date info on coach parking.

The Museum offers discounted tickets to Special Exhibitions, plus free entry for the Group Organizer. They provide a Groups’ Welcome pack, a complimentary packed lunch for coach drivers and special offer packages on food and drink in the Restaurant (minimum numbers of 8 apply).

People’s History Museum

Photograph of People's History MuseumAfter a £12.5m redevelopment the new and improved People’s History Museum is open! Come and see this iconic new building and magnificently restored historic Edwardian Pump House.

The People’s History Museum caters for Group Travel through guided tours and the welcome opportunity for self-guided visits. The museum offers easy access for groups with coach only pick up and drop offs right outside the museum. Their popular on-site cafe bar, The Left Bank welcomes and caters for large groups wishing to have lunch or take advantage of the museums special afternoon tea offer for groups.

The site of a fully operational mine until 30 years ago. Astley Green Colliery has now been restored into a fascinating tourist attraction.

For group visits the maximum group size they can accommodate is 40 persons. They have a large parking area for coaches and private cars in the colliery yard and they do not charge for entry but do appreciate any donations which visitors may wish to make in donation boxes around the museum buildings. They do not have any catering facilities currently, but like to share visitors with the nearby Dam House which has a cafeteria, and is worth a visit in its own right.

'Coach Friendly Rochdale'

Photograph of Rochdale Town HallRochdale borough has a unique collection of group friendly attractions, and to make group visits easy and stress-free the Tourist Information Centre, which is based in Touchstones Arts and Heritage Centre, offer their ‘Coach Friendly Rochdale’ package.

There are six VAQAS attractions plus parks, lakes, and ghost tours to tempt you. The Groups Co-ordinator will help you plan your itinerary, contact the attractions to make your bookings, and then meet and greet your group on arrival. Free coach parking can be arranged, with light refreshments for the driver.

Rochdale Town Hall is recognised as a Victorian masterpiece and a tour tells the history of Rochdale’s importance in the World. The town is also home to the first Co-op shop and The Greater Manchester Fire Service Museum. Further away are Ellenroad Engine House, East Lancashire Railway, and the stunning Queen’s Park in Heywood, voted ‘Best Green Flag Park 2010’.
